Project Description
PMinter
The overall objective of PMinter is the significant improvement of air quality focusing on PM (particulate matter, fine dust) in Klagenfurt-Lower Carinthia, Southern Styria and Maribor-Northern Slovenian to lower the risks of exposure for the inhabitants of the involved regions. PM10-, PM2.5- and NO2 limit values of the Air Quality Directive should be met.
Sub goals
- Clarification of the unknown sources of the high PM10-background levels in the region and the influence of residential wood combustion
- Development of an interregional multiscale air quality model system (AQMS)
- Development and implementation of new AQMPs (Air Quality Management Plans) There should be no more contradiction between air quality and climate protection strategies caused by the use of biomass
- Public awareness
European air quality goals for PM10 an PM2.5 should be met within a period of 10 - 15 years.
The impact of any major measures will be evaluated within the project to ultimately achieve a measurable improvement in air quality (PM10) in Klagenfurt, Marburg and Leibnitz around the existing air monitoring stations. First measures should be realized already in the project.
